Weekly Speaking HW(Sept. 16)
On September 16th,at 10:00 am I spoke with a master student in VCU,”Gopal Pareck” about energy resources and energy crisis in the world. According to him, the world is running out of energy fast. And the energy consumption increases day by day.For example today many people are useing electric toothbrushes.So we need more energy. And I asked him ”What are the energy resources of USA?”.He answered that “The energy resources ,used to generate electric power has changed over time. Today more than half of electricpower presently generated is derived from coal. And nuclear power is following the coal as a rate of one fifth. And the other important resources are natural gas and hydroelectric. Beside them renewable energy resources have importance, but, unfortunately they have not enough capasity. Consequently we agree that the government should invest in alternative energy resources and we should try to use electricity less.

Do you consciously make an effort to reduce the amount of electricity you use in your apartment? If yes, what do you do? If not, why not?
When we go out from the house, we turn off its lights and the air conditioner. we usually wash the dishes without dish washer machine.we use econo. bulb.etc.
I wish we had a meter in the house that directly measured how much electricity and water we used. Sometimes I wonder if it is better to use more water but less electricity or vice versa. We have started to put a bucket by the shower to collect the water as it warms up and then we use that water for the plants.
