fatih:

On Monday, I went to Students Commons. And I met Rob Denison. At first, I hesitated. Because he was eating something. But When he looked at me,I had to ask ”if you are uhh…if you are available….”. He did not let me finish and said:”Please sit”. He was so kind. I had determined a subject to talk about. But after I heard that two VCU student were shot in Jackson Word this weekend during a hold up, I thought that it would be better if we talk about that. Main questions:” Do you feel yourself safe in VCU?” and “Should ordinary citizens be allowed to carry handguns?”. He said:”Since VCU is an urban campus , you may not find the same level of safety in general as you would at other campuses. Nevertheless there are many precautions in order to prevent these kinds of happens. You can call the VCU police about a crime in that area and they can come in a few minutes.” And for the other question he said “I do not really think that everybody should carry a gun but I think it is important that lots of people do. The one reason I want to highlight today is safety”.So we agreed that on that point “You can feel yourself in safe with your gun, but the other people can not feel theirselves in safe because of your gun.”(I hope that you can understand the last sentence.)See you..

YOU (YOURSELF) CAN FEEL SAFE BECAUSE OF YOUR OWN GUN BUT OTHERS DON’T NECESSARILY FEEL SAFE AS WELL.

How common are hand guns in Turkey?  Personally, I would be afraid, as a teacher, if guns were allowed on campus.  Some students get very angry when they fail.
