I talked with Steve at the library on Mon.,Nov.24,08-Azumi

azumit:

When I went to the library to return books, I met Steve who works at a library cafe. I have met him before because I asked him to have a conversation then for my homework. We pleased to meet again. I was very glad that and I thought it was good that I asked him before. We enjoyed having a conversation for a while. I asked him if he has cooked a turkey for Thanks Giving because he had worked as a chef for thirty years. He said “yes” and he cooks every day for his wife. I was jealous to her because I have to cook every day and no one replaces me. I asked him what kind of food he cooks. He said “everything.” I was honestly surprised because I thought Americans usually cook simple food such a hot dog or a sandwich. He said he can cook Indian, Japanese, French and Mexican food. He is such a round player! He told me that he have cooked since he was five years old. And he apologized me because Japanese have had stomach cancers more than before for importing American food culture. I told him that it was not shamed for America. Surely, after World War Two, Japanese food culture had changed dramatically. It is the fact that Japanese have not eaten rice, fish and vegetable but bread, meat and junk food more. However, I thought it was not falt of America because Japanese have chosen to eat them by themselves. He told me that Americans have been an arrogant attitude for other countries. I partly agreed with it, but I never thought all Americans have been it. I really appreciated for him because he always told me what he thought frankly. At last, I asked him if he knew delicious restaurants in Richmond. He showed me two restaurants in Richmond are very good. One is “North Belmont” that is a French restaurant and another is “Buz & Ned’s Real BBQ.” Both of them are located near Blvd, in downtown. I would like try to go next time.

You are learning some great things by starting conversations with various types of people.  I agree that Buzz and Ned’s is one of the best BBQ places in town.  I have not been to North Belmont yet but have also heard that it is good.  Have you been to Edo’s Squid or The White Dog (also decent restaurants in the area)?
